Challenge | youth unemployment

In Kenya, the unemployement rate grew with an extreme speed from 12% in 2006 to 42% nowadays. Of all the unemployed people, 70% (!) are between the age of 15 and 35 years old.

OUR MISSION | Skills that matter

Vijana Reloaded offers youth training in entrepreneurship & ICT throughout rural Kenya, leading to over 100.000 jobs and increased food security by 2020.

Solution 4 | food insecurity

Solution 4 | food insecurity

There is a relatively agri-productivity in Kenya; youth leave their villages and look for jobs in cities where unemployment rules. There are smart ICT based farming solutions that can help increating production and access to market, that are not widely spread in practice. We want to challenge this.

Solution 4 | Traditional schooling

Solution 4 | Traditional schooling

Often, the traditional curriculum of schools in Kenya, don't cater for creatitivy, entrepreneurship and ICT skills. A teacher broadcasts the content and students reproduce it. In this picture you see students participating in a Vijana Reloaded Workshop.

Our model | social business

When a single training centre can generate its own revenues, it should become self-sustainable, so we can scale it to other cities and countries.

This model is unrestricted by the limitations of donor money, but driven by demand. And so far, we experience, that demand from rural youth in Kenya is endless.

VIDEO | Our proof

The first batch of students graduated 28th of August 2015. During their graduation day, they all pitched their business offers and strategy to about 80 private sector and government representatives. The outcome was that 9 of the fresh graduates entrepreneurs created sales leads of 2 million Kenyan shilling. That's about €20.000 in a single day!
